प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना (PMFBY) List 2023, Application Status

The 2023 list of beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is now accessible on the official website pmfby.gov.in. Farmers who previously submitted the PM Fasal Bima Yojana online application/registration form can now check their inclusion in the list on the website. This scheme, launched by the Narendra Modi government, is one of many aimed at supporting farmers.

Through the PMFBY, farmers have the ability to report crop losses, apply for crop insurance online, and receive financial assistance in case their crops are damaged due to factors like heavy rain, natural disasters, pests, or diseases. Interested farmers can also calculate the insurance premium amount for PMFBY using the same portal.

The government is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) nationwide to benefit farmers. Compared to previous crop insurance schemes with higher premiums, the premium amount under PMFBY for Kharif crops is set at 2% and for Rabi crops at 1.5%. PM Narendra Modi launched this agricultural/crop insurance scheme on 18th February 2016. Registration for crop insurance under PMFBY 2023 is currently open, and all interested farmers can apply online for agricultural insurance through the official website of PM Fasal Bima Yojana at pmfby.gov.in.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana Latest Update

The Central government is gearing up to launch a doorstep distribution drive for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which entered its seventh year on 18th February 2022. As part of the "Meri Policy Mere Hath" initiative, PMFBY will distribute crop insurance policies directly to farmers in all the implementing states. The goal of this campaign is to ensure that all farmers are well-informed and have access to information about their policies, land records, and the claim and grievance redressal process under PMFBY.

The scheme was originally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18, 2016, in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. It started its implementation during the Kharif season of the same year and has now completed its seventh year with the 2022 Kharif season. PMFBY, a flagship scheme of the Indian government, aims to provide financial support to farmers who suffer crop loss or damage due to natural calamities. As of February 4, 2022, more than 36 crore farmer applications have been insured under PMFBY, with claims worth over Rs. 1,07,059 crore already paid.

The scheme underwent a revamp in 2020, allowing farmers to participate voluntarily. It also introduced a convenient mechanism for farmers to report crop loss within 72 hours of the occurrence of any event, using the Crop Insurance App, CSC Centre, or the nearest agriculture officer. Claim benefits are then electronically transferred to the bank accounts of eligible farmers. Some key features of the scheme include the integration of land records with the PMFBY's National Crop Insurance Portal (NCIP), a Crop Insurance mobile app for easy enrollment of farmers, remittance of farmer premiums through NCIP, and modules for subsidy release and claim release through NCIP.

Furthermore, the scheme facilitates the submission of grievances by farmers through state/district level grievance committees. These grievances are acknowledged and addressed through various IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) activities, including Crop Insurance Week, PMFBY Paathshaala, social media campaigns, a toll-free helpline, and email communication. The recent announcement in the 2022-23 Budget speech by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman about the use of drones for crop insurance will enhance the integration of technology and ensure smoother implementation of the scheme on the ground.
